Responsibility for people and nature
As a modern family business and environmentally friendly outdoor equipment supplier, VAUDE takes its responsibility for people and nature very seriously. Based in Tettnang, the company has been in the outdoor and mountain sports business for almost 50 years and continues to set new standards for sustainable management, environmentally friendly product innovations and fair production conditions. Since 2001 VAUDE has been working with the strict environmental standard bluesign®, which controls the entire textile value chain. VAUDE was also the first outdoor company to be eco-certified according to EMAS. VAUDE and Sympatex have a long-standing, trusting partnership.
Highest standards for sustainable and fair production
VAUDE develops its products with a high standard of sustainability to ensure that the footprint it leaves behind during development and production is kept to a minimum. Every single product that the company develops should be a clear advancement in functional, economic and ecological terms, otherwise it loses its justification. And what happens at the end of the product’s life? VAUDE shares the same philosophy as Sympatex: the company already thinks about how a product or its components can be reused or, at best, recycled at the end of the product life cycle.
Strong and sustainable materials
Many waterproof VAUDE models use the 100% recycled Sympatex membrane. The ecological alternative for membranes is PTFE- and PFC-free, consists of polyether/ester that is harmless to health and the environment, is Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and certified according to the bluesign® system. Combined with 100% recycled linings, VAUDE thus uses Sympatex laminates made of completely recycled materials for the entire shoe collection. Furthermore, it is equipped with a fluorocarbon-free DWR (durable water repellent), which was specially developed by Sympatex in cooperation with its partner Rudolf Chemie.
