What matters most to you as a brand?
Launched in 2020, London-based Universal Colours began with a small team of cyclists who came together to create a global performance brand with strong values. We realised that cyclists see their clothing as an extension of their views and personality and created a line of cycling apparel that doesn’t compromise on originality, durability and responsibility. Universal Colours prioritises progressive design and considerately sourced materials to create the highest-quality products. Promoting equal choice for men and women, we use the same colour palette across genders and offer unisex pieces in our collections.
It looks like you have engineered change. We’re curious! Could you please share with us what’s so unique in terms of design?
As a forward-thinking brand, we seek to challenge ourselves and our partners to develop sustainable practices and create garments with a focus on originality, durability and responsibility. This is our mission: to bring cyclists some of the finest, considerately sourced performance apparel our industry has seen. We aren’t always looking at sustainability from the perspective of using recycled raw materials. As cyclists, we understand that our kit has a tough life through repetitive use and washing. Ensuring our kit is durable is as important to the wider sustainability issue as the production itself. We are committed to changing the way cycling apparel is manufactured. A collaborative approach allows us to adapt, progress and create the most carefully considered, high-quality product possible. We only work with factories internationally audited for social and environmental good practice, and this will never change. We evolve, adapt and constantly look outside of our industry for inspiration, be that outdoor, streetwear or high fashion. We pay homage to the changing seasons and consistent rides that look different year-round. As such, we view our collections as a continuation of our story, a new volume rather than a new season. As part of our inclusive approach, our collections include unisex pieces and we use the same colour palette across genders.
For us, it’s about collaboration. Please share with us, what makes Sympatex your perfect match and ingredient?
A high quality product that provides the performance required yet also, Sympatex goes above and beyond in their environmental practices which is very important to us as a brand. Looking how things can be done in a more environmentally friendly way, challenging the status quo and setting ambitious targets is something we’re very much aligned with and highly value in Sympatex as a partner.
Apparently, our planet matters to you, too! What’s your approach in that regard?
