Sympatex Showcases Circular Textile Innovations at Performance Days
Munich, February 19th 2025 – Sympatex Technologies will be exhibiting at Performance Days (March 5-6, 2025, Hall C5, Booth Q17), reinforcing its commitment to closing the textile loop and accelerating circular solutions for the industry. With groundbreaking innovations and collaborative projects, Sympatex will demonstrate how sustainable materials and digital design processes can shape the future of functional textiles.

Spotlight on new product Kyoto F2F Spring AS – Advancing Circularity in Performance Wear
At the forefront at the Sympatex booth is Kyoto F2F Spring AS, an innovative 3-layer laminate crafted from chemically recycled textile-2-textile yarns. Developed to reduce textile waste, the material is made from both pre- and post-consumer waste, reinforcing the company’s mission of textile-to-textile recycling.
Kyoto F2F Spring AS has also been been selected for The Trend Forum Fabrics (see more in attached pdf).
Key sustainability attributes:
- Carbon footprint: 11.9 kg CO2e/kg (HIGG MSI score: 11.5)
- Performance: Waterproof (20,000 mm), breathable (14 Ret), windproof
- Material: 100% recycled PES with a structured ripstop surface and soft jersey backing
- Weight: 110 g/m²
- Applications: Outdoor and sportswear (Running, Cycling, Hiking, Trekking)
- Fluorocarbon-free water repellency for an eco-friendly alternative
Jessica Dedora, Product Management Apparel at Sympatex, states: “With its structured, stretchy ripstop surface and soft jersey backing it delivers a modern yet functional and innovative 3-layer material inhibiting substantial sustainability properties.”
Kim Scholze, CSMO of Sympatex, shares: “Expanding our Fiber2Fiber (F2F) portfolio is essential for making circularity a reality in textiles. With each new development, we are strengthening the foundation for a fully closed-loop system that benefits both brands and consumers. The focus on mono-materials and Fiber2Fiber solutions is crucial to ensuring high-quality recyclability, and we are excited to see our portfolio continue to grow.”
Visitors to the Sympatex booth can explore the material in action and experience first-hand how Kyoto F2F Spring AS supports high-performance circular design.
Innovation Through Collaboration – Student Eco-Design Project
Sympatex is also partnering with Hochschule Albstadt-Sigmaringen to highlight the intersection of sustainability and digital product development. Under the guidance of lecturer Mark Zenzinger, students designed and constructed waterproof jackets using Kyoto F2F Spring AS, incorporating alternative bonding technologies such as sustainable gluing and welding instead of traditional stitching.
The jackets were initially designed in the CLO3 3D system, with the Kyoto F2F Spring AS laminate provided as a digital fabric twin from our digital fabric library in the DMIx Cloud. The twins enable precise and realistic digital prototyping prior to production.
Live at Performance Days: Attendees can see the physical jacket and learn more about the digital-to-physical design workflow at the Sympatex booth.
The Growing Impact of Sympatex Digital Fabric Library
As more brands embrace digitalization, the Sympatex Digital Fabric Library is playing a crucial role in enabling efficient 3D prototyping and laminate selection. The library allows customers to explore 3D Twins of our laminates, ensuring precise digital material representation for virtual product development.
At the same time, the DMIx Cloud’s Matchbox tool supports our suppliers in the digital color management process and increasingly replacing traditional lab dip procedures with a digital workflow. Link to Digital Fabric Library: Digital Fabric Library – Sympatex Membran & Laminate
Kim Scholze, CSMO, adds: “It is fantastic to see more brands integrating digital solutions to streamline fabric selection and prototyping. The ability to accurately visualize materials in 3D Twins, combined with digital color management, enhances efficiency and significantly reduces waste – critical steps toward a more sustainable textile industry.”
