“Nature is not a luna park or a supermarket” ~ Lagoped
Lagoped was founded in 2018 by mountain enthusiasts. They are convinced that Nature is not a supermarket where you can help yourself indefinitely. They recycle to stop destroying the house we live in. They work in the European Union from yarn to garment to share everything they do.
What matters most to you as a brand?
Change the way citizens look and consider nature. Away from a pure extractivist and consumerist view and closer to the feel of being part of it. Hence our baseline: One With Nature.
It looks like you have engineered change. We’re curious! Could you please share with us what’s so unique in terms of design?
It is a process innovation to ensure a better traceability of our garment production. We source recycled yarn and fabric in the EU. And we manufacture our clothing in the EU. For all our collection. This commitment obliges us to do all the rest differently: from collection design to distribution and pricing policies.
For us, it’s about collaboration. Please share with us, what makes Sympatex your perfect match and ingredient?
Sympatex products offer the perfect match with Lagoped’s commitments. All made in the EU using EU recycled materials with a PFC-free water repellency treatment. Also, having the 3-layer fabric with the same composition is a key point as it paves the way for circularity at the end of the life of the garment. Sympatex allows us to equip numerous professional mountain guides in the European mountains : a proof of the recognised performance on top of environmental commitments.
Apparently, our planet matters to you, too! What’s your approach in that regard?
We want to demonstrate that it is possible to manufacture garments differently. 90% of the environnemental impact occurs during sourcing : actually making the fabric that will constitute the garment. This is why we are involded from the fiber to the final clothing through the threads and all the process is made within the European Union. Hence we are better equipped to monitor the full process and be accountable for what we do.
