Sport and nature connect

Sport and nature connect

How can we learn to behave sustainable? Founded in December 2021, the Nature Sports Academy powered by Sympatex gives nature sports a voice to convey and live sustainability. The Natursport Academy cooperates with a strong industrial partner: Sympatex. The partnership enables the necessary support of all participating nature sports associations, mountain sports (VDB), mountain biking (DIMB), snow sports (DLSV) and water sports (VDWS).

The Nature Sports Academy (NAka) represents the interests of nature sports professionals in a commercial, professional environment. It connects a network of associations, organisations, universities, ministries and authorities. The focus is on the respectful treatment of people with nature. Nature sports inspire people for nature, mediate the sport and sensitize for the protection of nature.

“The basic idea of the Nature Sports Academy is to form a network of associations that train professionally active nature sports teachers. The associations continue to retain their full sovereignty, but everyone works together in the Nature Sports Academy and pursues the same goals,” says Peter Hennekes, Managing Director of the Nature Sports Academy.

Together with Sympatex, the Nature Sports Academy is working on the so-called Design for Recyclebility. By 2030, a completely recyclable clothing for natural sports will be developed and used by nature sports instructors. Development and mediation of training and further education in the field of sustainably developed, produced and used textiles for the natural sports represented in the Nature Sports Academy is also part of the objective.

“The aim of our agreement with the Nature Sport Academy is to advocate sustainable, ecological behaviour in society through our jointly defined goals in order to “make the world a better place” in this context“, says Dr. Rüdiger Fox, CEO Sympatex.

“A key goal of the partnership is a sustainably circulating system in the textite industry 365 days a year. Together, we pursue the goal of creating a cross-sport, year-round circulating system within the Nature Sport Academy and thus achieving a role model effect in the public. Based on Sympatex’s self-promise and time planning to be 100% circular by 2030, we would like to advocate for a new sustainable behavior, especially among the nature sports teachers themselves,” says Kim Scholze, Chief Sustainable Manager and Head of Storytelling Sympatex.

The best possible networking of classic nature sports as well as trend sports is the great task of the Nature Sports Academy. Nature sports take place all year round in the mountains, on the water or in the snow. Nature sports instructors of various sports accompany and look after people during their sporting activities in nature. With sustainably socially and ecologically oriented concepts, the Natursport Academy focuses on the respectful treatment of people with nature. People inspire people for nature, teach the sport and sensitize for the protection of nature.

About Sympatex

Re>Closing the loop. Together. By incorporating a climate-neutral and recyclable Sympatex membrane.

100 billion garments and 23 billion pairs of shoes produced p.a. represent Sympatex‘s future source of new raw material, once they‘ve reached their end of life. The intelligent Sympatex membrane has been used in clothing, shoes, accessories and technical applications since 1986 and guarantees being 100% waterproof, windproof and breathable – in accordance with the performance standard. Intelligent? The membrane develops proportionally increasing breathability at higher activity. New and far above standard is that Sympatex produces functional textiles from recycled and recyclable monomaterials. Sympatex will no longer use new materials from the oil industry in the future. Instead, used textiles are transformed into new, high-quality membranes, laminates and functional textiles. Sympatex is working with selected brand partners worldwide to close the textile cycle together.
