Honest Made Apparel
Elkline embodies outdoor lifestyle through and through. Living out creativity and simply making clothes – with this passion in his luggage, Stephan Knüppel, founder and owner of Elkline, got into his VW Bulli 20 years ago and started the ignition. Where exactly it should go, he did not know at that time, the way was the goal…
Responsibility for people and nature
Sustainability is not only written in capital letters at Elkline, but lived in all aspects: since 2011, the Hamburg-based functional label has been doing without water-repellent finishes in which perfluorinated and polyfluorinated chemicals (PFAs) are used, as well as the use of solvent-free membranes. Elkline processes recycled polyester in addition to natural materials and uses single-variety material to enable feeding into a polyester recycling loop. The use of recycled materials reduces large mountains of plastic waste in the long term; at the same time, recycling saves about half the energy, emissions, and fossil fuels needed compared to new products. Elkline and Sympatex are linked by a trusting partnership, and both companies are pulling in the same direction when it comes to sustainability. Elkline therefore relies on the climate neutral, recyclable and 100% PTFE- and PFAs-free Sympatex membrane in many of its waterproof models.
