Care

A real plus for the Sympatex membrane – it has no pores and instead works on a purely chemical and physical principle:
The hydrophilic (water-attracting) components of the Sympatex membrane absorb moisture from the body and transport it to the outside so that it can evaporate.
At the same time, the membrane’s non-porous structure prevents rain from penetrating. This means that clothing containing Sympatex products is extremely easy to care for. Since, unlike porous membranes, the Sympatex membrane cannot be blocked by perspiration (salt crystals) or dirt, the garments do not need to be washed every time after wearing to maintain the functionality of the membrane. In addition, detergent residues (surfactants) do not hit the non-porous membrane, so the garments retain their full performance even after frequent washing. So it doesn’t matter if you wash the garments more or less often – 100% function and breathability remain guaranteed.

Apparel

Washing

  • Simple washing as indicated on the care label
  • Use mild detergent or special detergent for functional textiles without washing additives
  • Do not use fabric softener
  • Reduced spin speed (easy-care or delicate program)
  • Close zippers, Velcro and buttons before washing
  • To preserve the finish and color freshness, we recommend thorough rinsing of the garments

Dry Cleaning

  • Dry cleaning is possible
  • See care label

Drying

  • We recommend the use of a tumble dryer, as this activates the impregnation
  • Drying at low temperature and low speed

Ironing

  • Ironing reactivates the impregnation
  • The iron temperature should not exceed 110°C (1 point / 1st setting)

Reimpregnation

  • Reimpregnate the upper material as soon as the water stops forming beads
  • Use wash impregnation according to the imanufacturer’s instructions
  • Apply the spray impregnation product to the outside of the damp or dry garment
  • Then dry in the tumble dryer. The heat helps the impregnation product to condense and improves its water-repellent effect
  • Reimpregnation is also possible in the dry cleaning cycle

Footwear

Cleaning

  • Shoes should be cleaned from the outside with a soft brush and lukewarm water

Drying

  • Dry shoes slowly and never place them in direct sunlight or on radiators

Impregnation

  • Regular reimpregnation maintains protection against dirt and supports the water beading effect
  • Avoid extremely oil-based creams so as not to impair breathability
  • Suitable care products for shoes with Sympatex membrane are available from your shoe retailer

Repair

Damaged functional clothing does not have to be thrown away. In terms of sustainability and longevity, tears and holes can be sealed with the right materials and the know-how of our “Repair Partners”. Broken zippers, torn out pockets or too long sleeves are also no problem.
