Textile partnership

Textilbündnis

The Textile Partnership is a multi-stakeholder initiative with the aim to reach social, ecological and economic improvements along the complete textile value chain. Sympatex has been a member of the association since May 2015, and since the beginning of 2016, the functional specialist has supported the association to reach their goals through its cooperation in the work group “Review Process”.

In order to reach the association’s aim of creating a sustainable textile value chain, each member develops a roadmap once a year. It contains realisation requirements that every member works on for the respective year.

Description of the Textile Partnership

The Textile Partnership wants to view the entire value chain, which means the supply chain of textiles like clothing or bed linen in its entirety – along the complete supply chain – from the raw materials production to the disposal.

Moreover, the negotiation process for structural changes should be decided with all stakeholders. Companies and associations, the civil society, the government, trade unions and standard organisations: They all bring in their point of view and constructively create binding goals together, for the people and the environment in the production countries worldwide.

The Textile Partnership demands a coalition of all acting parties of society to combine their strength for the common goal. The partnership brings together those responsible from the fields of economy, the civil society, politics, union trades as well as standard organisations. It offers them a platform to share their experiences, to learn from each other and to develop and realise joint solutions for social and ecological improvements in the textile industry.

In addition, there is a common definition of the partnership’s aims that represents the foundation of the cooperation of the Textiles Partnership’s members. The gradual realisation of these aims is binding for all members and is to create an ongoing improvement.

The partnership develops solutions that consider the social, ecological and economic challenges along the entire textile supply chain, and it invites partners from all over the world to fight together for sustainability in order to realise the goals on a global level.
